Darla L. Carter

Veterinarian

Darla L. Carter, DVM is the full time veterinarian who serves the clients of Leon Springs Animal Hospital. She is a graduate of Texas A&M and obtained her first degree, a B.S. of Animal Science, in 1988. In 1989, she earned her B.S. in Veterinary Science and graduated in 1992 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Carter has always had a passion for both animals and the medical field, and enjoys practicing veterinary medicine because that is where she can use her gifts to make a difference. She expects her clients to call or come by any time they have a question about the health of their pets. Dr. Carter believes that preventative medicine and open communication are the keys to the health of our companion animals. She will strive to offer the very best and most compassionate care available to her patients. Dr. Carter enjoys spending her off time with her family and serving in her church. Her biggest area of interest outside of work is to stay active in pursuit of a life of full devotion to Jesus Christ. Dr. Carter and her daughter participate in church activities together, including crafting, games with friends, movies, bowling, and occasionally raising bottle-fed kittens.

John
Supervisor, CVA

John has been working for our hospital since 2004. He enjoys spending time with his son Nathaniel and fiancée Melissa. John likes watching independent films and taking care of his Charger. His pets, Maya the pug and Eva the golden retriever, enjoy driving John crazy by digging up all of his carefully planted landscaping. His four cats often collaborate in stealing food, and openly protest their weight-loss diet.

Mark
CVA

Mark has been at the hospital since 2005. He brings over ten years of veterinary experience to the table, and has worked with both domestic and exotic pets. He and his wife Adriana welcomed their first child, Matthew, into the world in January of 2009. Their other family members include Zeus and Shelby, brother and sister boxers, and Ginny, their step-sister rat terrier. Sammy, their cat, thinks he is a dog. Mark produces rock music and loves FPS computer games.

Byron
CVA

Byron came to work for Leon Springs in 2008 and loves animals. He has four cats at home and helps manage his extended family's chihuahua herd. Byron was recently married to his beautiful wife Heidi and has a teenage son named Christian. Byron also moonlights at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown, and has been bartending since 2002. Byron loves to cook and has a special passion for sauces - everything is paired when he's in the kitchen! Byron is currently working towards his RVT certification.

Letty
CVA

Letty joined the Leon Springs team in 2009. She has a great amount of experience, having worked with animals as small as hamsters and as big as lions. Letty is a proud mother of two sons, Brandon and Daniel. She is also believes the world should be populated with one breed of dog: the proud and majestic Yorkshire terrier. Letty is also an avid gardener and loves to read when her massive orange cats aren't demanding attention. She also has two weenies, Manu and Duncan, and two rescued mutts, Ringo Starr and Chance. Then, there is Chancho, the three-legged Chihuahua terrier. Nachos and Chalupa, the cats, enjoy watching Chancho skid out when taking turns too fast around corners.

Cameron
Receptionist, CVA

Cameron is currently a psychology student at UTSA. She enjoys running, swimming, and volunteering for local rescue organizations like the Animal Defense League and Helotes Humane Society. Cameron and her husband Matt love taking their two dogs, Angus and Maly, for hikes at nearby Government Canyon and long car rides to the coast. Their three cats enjoy these quiet moments when the dogs aren't home. Cameron and Matt practice a vegan lifestyle, and can usually be spotted stuffing their faces at Green Vegetarian Cuisine.
